About Us
Valletta Subbuteo Club is a member of the Malta Table Football Sports Association and the Federation International Sport of Table Football. The club was founded in 1988 by Mr Adrian Bonnici and Mr Joe Bartolo. The two founders raised the club with the assistance of Mr Alfred Fenech who presently is the club Honorary President.
In the first year games were played at Adrian’s house and with more members joining the club in the following year the club made arrangements to use Tottenham Hotspurs Supporters Club premises based in St. Frederick Street.
For fourteen consecutive years from 1988-89 until 2002-2003 all Subbuteo competitions were played at this club. Then in the following season the premises required refurbishing and our club had to make alternative arrangements and consequently moved at St Dominick’s hall.
The year after the Committee reached agreement with the Civil Service Sports Club to start using their premises for all competitions being organised by the Valletta Subbuteo Club.
On a club level Valletta Subbuteo Club became Champions of Malta for four consecutive seasons from 1993-94 till 1996-97 and again in 1998-99 and 1999-2000. The major honours came from the Club Seniors where for several seasons from 1993-94 till 1998-99 included a great achievement for six consecutive years.
Today 20 years from when the club was established, the club is being frequented by the club members who get together every week to play in a very friendly atmosphere and playing competitive matches of different leagues and tournaments.
Normally the season kicks off in October with the Valletta Cup after which the Valletta league will get on its way until the end of May. In between other competitions are organised which are Christmas Cup in December, then in January there is the President Cup, the Easter Cup during Easter while after the league is completed there is the Knock out competition. The Super Cup Final closes the end of season scenario which game is played between the Champion of the 1st Division and the Knock Out Winner.
The season comes to an end up with a function for all members in which the presentation of all the trophies are awarded to the players who won honours that season.
